When sitting at the sushi bar, if you're not 7'4", the chairs will seem very low. I'm above average height, and the height was so far off it was uncomfortable. Off to a fine start. I wanted to write on the sushi order form, but had no pencil! I'd considered using something else to write with, but short of stamping the form in my own blood, I was having issues finding anything to write with! As my search pattern expanded, I found the little golf pencils aaaaaaall the way at the end of the sushi bar. How inconvenient. Have the owners put ANY thought into the sushi bar at all? Perhaps they're 7'4" and the chairs fit them perfectly, and they bring their own scribblers. The sushi chef was kind enough to clue me in on the lunch specials, something the hosted neglected to do. The house salad I received was very tasty. It was also comically small. It was, hands down, the smallest salad I've ever seen. My iced tea had a coffee taste to it. Dammit! Why does this happen? Do they really make it using a coffee machine? How hard is it to use cucumber in spicy tuna rolls? It adds a cool, crunchy, contrast (say it 5x fast!) to the spicy mush that is the chopped tuna. The spicy tuna was barely spicy at all, and had little taste. The Mexican roll was unseasoned shrimp tempura, with avocado and rice. There was no taste to it at all! Soy sauce was needed to even make it palatable, and it barely did the job at that. The rolls were both small and anemic. I thought they looked like something Blu Sushi would serve... and as I sat down to write this, I saw another review say that the sushi chef worked at Blu Sushi! It all makes perfect sense! The small, tasteless rolls, the curt service, it all made sense. What doesn't make sense, is me going back.

We ordered take out last night and was pleasantly surprised. My husband had the terriaki chicken dinner and said it was great. My daughter and I had the chicken fried rice, miso soup and ginger salad. All taste great! We also tried spring rolls and crab Rangoon. Can't wait to try the sushi! Just didn't feel like sushi last night! But definitely will come back and the best part it's so close to our neighborhood Gateway!

We were craving for Sushi and the name came up was Rock'nSushi as recommended by friends. The restaurant is located inside Gateway Community just north of the Airport among some office buildings off the gas station. Four of us went in for an early dinner. For appetizer, we ordered salmon skin sushi and grilled Satay Chicken. The salmon skin was crispy and delicious and the Satay Chicken was tasty. They went very well with our Kirin beers. Next we have the miso soup and ginger salad. All tasted great! Two ordered the Tempura Shrimp. The Tempura batter was light and good. Only has one slight negative issue. The rice was not freshly cooked but tasted re-steamed! Over all, both enjoyed the dish. We also ordered the Sushi dinner for two. It came with Honeymoon roll with tuna, salmon, whitefish, California, eel and shrimp Sushi. It was fresh and not disappointed. We did not have any dessert! The staff is incredibly warm and friendly! We will be back to try other sushi Thai and Japanese dish. Beef Tataki looks very appealing on the next table!

Went there for a late lunch the other day. Although our service could have been quicker, the food was worth the wait. They have the best Crab Rangoon I have had yet! I would recommend this place to sushi fanatics. We will be returning soon!!

Excellent restaurant. We went as a group of 8 and all of us enjoyed it.. The sushi was as good as any, and the Thai dishes were also very good. . The service was very friendly and good. 4 stars, maybe 5.

I have traveled the globe in my 10 year military career. I've had a fair share of Japanese fare in Tokyo, and some of the prime choice, A+ Thai and Japanese cuisine in Guam as a 2 year resident. If I were to take the best of these eateries abroad and magically poof them into existence, anywhere in FL, it would be well worth a trip. Well, poof. It's in our backyard! The level of quality in both artistic display and taste mesh second to none here. Former BluSushi chefs have jumped aboard a winner in this growing model to perform decadent craftsmanship. Their Facebook page gives a mere glimpse of the culinary food porn. To say they set the standard would be selling them short. Experiencing Rock'N Sushi in person, is a life changer. This is a new kid on the block with owners who live right here in Gateway. Incredibly warm and friendly staff work hard and take pride in establishing and satisfying a niche in the neighborhood. Two huge TV's and ice cold domestic and imported beer and sake (hot or cold), is a perfect match to the amazing menu. I would highly recommend this place to anybody that hasn't yet, been sold themselves. Good job thus far guys, keep up the great product and word will travel far!

So glad to have come here & seen my favorite sushi chef Tony working! The best hidden gem in Gate Way! A must try! And now we've discovered a new sushi chef Jimmy which was a true delight cause he's also a great addition to our favorite! Left completely satisfied!

My friends kept telling us about this place so we decided to go try it out. A little hard to find but we made it. I loved the set up inside and the huge window over looking the lake behind the restaurant. I will say from my first impression, this place is extremely clean! We were in time for happy hour but after being explained that it was only half rolls for $5 it didn't seem like such a great deal since the whole rolls are only $8-10. Server was attentive but not very helpful, we were the only ones in the restaurant and she managed to get lost towards the end, not bringing us water refills until we were done eating. We ordered the lava drops as an appetizer which was pretty good. For my boyfriends entree he had the Volcano special roll and for my entree I had the Chicken Pad Thai which came with a clear soup and ginger salad. The soup was good, the salad not my favorite since the dressing tasted more like soy sauce than ginger but I'm gonna have to say this Pad Thai was hands down one of the BEST I have had in a while. The portion was so big I had to share and I had a piece if chicken in every bite! The rolls were mediocre for the price I would say they were worth it but I will def be back again and again for the pad thai!

Being locals that love sushi my wife and I try every new sushi bar that opens. As we walked in, the sushi bar stood out. But the closeness of the dinning tables made it a little too close for comfort. The menu included a large variety of rolls including many fried rolls. We were delighted with the freshness of the rolls. We will be adding this to our go to places for sushi!

Simply outstanding. We ordered nine rolls for a table of nine, including three teenagers. No substitute for fresh fish, and they didn't disappoint. We'll definitely be back!

Sushi Rolls were bland. Order Spicy Tuna Roll and Dragon Roll, and thought the taste was bland but fresh. Restaurant's atmosphere was bland too. The Restaurant wasn't busy and was seated in the far corner facing blank wall. My Friend stated that she felt like she was having Sushi at Denny's Restaurant and I felt like I was in a cubicle at Office. Had better, won't return..

Very unhappy with the food and service received at this restaurant. I ordered a chickens teriyaki which is usually sweet and received the food in the picture. This was very spicy and the "sauce" looked more like soup. I called and told them that they must have got the wrong food, but they assured me it was correct. They offered to replace it and said it would be ready in 10 min. I went back about 15 min later and the hostess was just telling the chef that i was not happy with the food and was just asking him to replace it with the new food i had ordered. This was on a Monday afternoon and they were not busy at all. I asked for a refund and left. Although i love sushi I will never return!!

Awesome spot. I've gone three times so far and it's been great every time. Happy hour makes stuffing your face with sushi even more affordable.

I really wanted to like this place. My husband and I recently moved to the area and I wanted to find a nearby sushi spot. Fail.... I got a simple Philadelphia roll... It was bland. Save yourself the trip, and just go to Publix who has sushi way better than this! I also tried a seafood and cucumber salad which was good but it was mainly cucumbers with 2 pieces of shrimp and 2 pieces of octopus on top. My husband got the worst part of all this, he ordered the NY steak with scallions. His food came, and the steak was cold, they brought his scallions like 10 minutes later, no apology, nobody approached us. It was just kind of "ohhh sorry" they did have the brain to take the steak of the bill, but still, what a waste of time. I could have stayed home and made myself a pb&j sandwich and save the money and dissapointment!

Sushi close to home, not as good as others. Worth a try, but nothing really stands out. We had a few of the special rolls and I wasn't blown away, which is why we were hoping for.

Hard to find this since it is off on a street behind other buildings. This place has great lunch specials ex: 2 rolls with soup and salad for $9.95 I had their miso soup and it is just awful, too salty must have used soy as their soup base or something but it felt like I was drinking salt. Their salad was fine except for their ginger dressing. Again it was too salty. Felt like they douse their salad with soy sauce, there wasn't even a hint of ginger in the dressing. The sushi rolls was okay since I ordered the honeymoon and crazy roll (cooked and fried) which wasn't bad. Have not tried their Thai section but I hope it would be better than their Japanese food.

Great taste, great price. Pros: Food taste good, so far no foul ups. Service is good. Sushi is well made, almost comparable to Origami's. No one can really compete with them anyway. Price is right, not expensive at all. Cons: They need to work on the atmosphere, it still feels like an office. Paint the ceiling tiles, add in some decorative acoustical panels, there is actually an echo in this place. Rice in the fried rice was wet and a little bland.

I've had mixed experiences here. The staff is polite and attentive but I've had issues where either myself or my part has had wrong orders. Not a biggie. There's def better places for sushi in fort myers, but overall they have seemed to improve since opening. My first experience was pretty poor but it was opening week and the food has improved since then. I'll keep giving it a try in hopes everything continues to improve- I really want to see it succeed!

Hidden away in Gateway, off the beaten path, you will find this little Bistro has the potential to be a 5 Star Gem. Having opened just one week ago, there was a line out the door Friday evening. The inside is clean and comfortable but it definitely feels like you are having dinner in an office space. Seating is limited, I recommend reservations. The Hurricane Spring Roll Appetizer, was light, crisp & tasty. The Ceviche was excellent, the fish was fresh and tossed with a wonderful ponzu sauce. Rounding off the meal was the Silverlakes Roll and Smoked Salmon Sushi. The biggest drawback was the slow service. There were plenty of cheerful, knowledgable wait staff but it still took us more than 2 hours to complete our meal. I only saw one Sushi Chef. Being new I believe this is something they will work out. We plan to go back to try some of their other dishes. In addition to Sushi they offer Thai and Japanese dishes. Check out their lunch and dinner menu at RocknSushiGateway.com .

The server we had was a little off. She had us write down our own order (legibly) and ended up bringing the wrong plate. They did correct this with no issue. Also, she was a little slow. Yet nice. Other than that mishap the sushi was outstanding. Ninja roll, gateway, and volcano special were out of this world. I'll definitely be going back. The hostess was gorgeous and another blonde who was always smiling was beautiful as well. That's just a bonus. I'm single so I look. Sorry haha great place. Check it out!! See you there.
